For the past few months, when I’ve had free time on nights/weekends, I’ve been writing this delightful little survey makin’ and analyzin’ tool that I dubbed MK*SRVY (pronounced: Make Survey). I was inspired by the pain of creating pricing surveys in other tools. Now, you’ve got a handy-dandy way to write pricing surveys for all the products. The video does a little walkthrough of how easy it is and how flexible the built-in analysis tool is. It’s neat! And it’s free!
…Free-ish, naturally. I’m trying to become a mogul here.
I thought I’d charge for Workspaces, to easily collaborate with others to ensnare massive corporations—who else can afford $10/month (with a 7-day free trial)? You also get Conjoint analysis in the premium plan, and MK*SRVY doesn’t return silly things like “partworths” or whatever nonsense the other survey platforms thought up (seriously: it’s silly and you end up having to do the conjoint analysis you paid like thousands of dollars for yourself). MK*SRVY returns choice probabilities for certain feature combinations when they compete against other feature combinations, i.e., it tells you what demand is when facing certain competitors (or the outside option).
The name for the Premium subscription was obvious: MK*ULTRA. This made me chuckle, is kind of related to understanding human behavior—like a survey—and is therefore excellent, expert branding. Some branding folks might caution against using the name of illegal government programs, but, mercifully, their advice is too expensive, so they didn’t get a say.
It can, of course, do more than pricing analyses. The same question type used for Gabor-Granger-style willingness-to-pay analysis could be used to optimize free trial lengths, discounts, etc.
